MediaNama held an online discussion that was focused on cybersecurity and healthcare on July 28, 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought the fragility of healthcare tech infrastructure into sharp focus, with threat actors exploiting the complex, and sometimes vulnerable, digital environments.
Lt Gen (Dr.) Rajesh Pant (National Cyber Security Coordinator) delivered the opening keynote address and Ambassador Latha Reddy (Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace) joined us for the closing remarks.
We discussed insights from “Playing with Lives: Cyberattacks on Healthcare are Attacks on People" report with Bruno Halopeau, from the CyberPeace Institute, and spoke to domain and industry experts to understand why healthcare is a target for cyberattacks, the nature of these attacks, and their impact on healthcare services, professionals, and patients. Our panelists included:
- Arvind Sivaramakrishnan, Apollo Hospitals
- Niranjan K. Ramakrishnan, MyLabConnect
- Pallavi Bedi, Centre for Internet and Society
- Vishal Gondal, GOQii
This document captures the key points raised in the session. The event was held in partnership with CyberPeace Institute, and with support from Facebook.
